  • Chelsea are ready to take Thomas Lemar on loan from Atletico Madrid
  • Lemar currently earns £102k per-week at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium
  • Chelsea star Olivier Giroud has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan
  • The Blues have been told it will take £50m to secure the signing of Issa Diop

Chelsea have been handed a fresh transfer blow following reports that midfielder N’Golo Kante wants to make a shock £100million exit to Real Madrid. Kante has won two Premier League titles during his Premier League career but now he wants a move to La Liga.

Kante has consistently been one of the best defensive midfielders in world football and rose to prominence after helping Leicester win the league nearly four years ago.

But according to The Sun, Chelsea are at risk of losing their star player – because he wants to move to Real Madrid. They are reporting that Kante is after a fresh challenge and thinks that Real is the perfect place for that.

Chelsea, however, will likely have to pay over £100m if they want to sign Kante, which would be treble what the Blues paid for him. Kante is thought to be close to Real boss Zinedine Zidane, who wants to add to his depleted midfield this summer.

Conte wanted Zlatan for Blues

“I welcome back Ibrahimovic, he is a great champion,” said Conte.

“He knows well there was a moment when I tried to convince him to come to Chelsea, but he was in a recovery phase and eventually he didn’t feel like accepting.

“He is a person I have a lot of respect for.

“I think he can give AC Milan a lot and he can bring personality by making the environment more responsible.

“For a coach, it’s important to find players in teams who can convey your word.

“Players who know what you want, who lead the team. When a coach has those kind of players then things get a lot easier.”

Batshuayi latest

Chelsea may let Michy Batshuayi leave this month on loan, but it depends on whether the Blues sell Olivier Giroud.

One potential destination for Batshuayi is Crystal Palace, where the Belgian played on loan last season.

Palace, however, have just signed Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton, but manager Roy Hodgson hasn’t ruled out a move for Batshuayi.

“Things go one at a time.,” said the former England manager.

“Like a lot of time, we have vacancies in certain positions, areas we’d like to improve. It’s still all hands to the pump in terms of trying to find the right people.

“But we don’t have the candidates we’d necessarily want. We’ll have to wait and see how the window continues to transpire. Things happen all the time, as Cenk has just shown us.”

Hudson-Odoi decision

Callum Hudson-Odoi has spoken to The Sun and admitted that the thought of leaving Chelsea last year was on his mind.

Bayern Munich were reportedly after the Englishman’s services last January and at the beginning of the summer.

“I was talking about it with the family and thinking, ‘I just want to play games,’ and at that moment I wasn’t playing enough,” Hudson-Odoi told The Sun.

“I wouldn’t say I was close to leaving but it was on my mind. What happened in January happened. But I signed my contract and I’m happy here now – everything is going well.

“It’s been a rollercoaster year. A lot of things have happened which made me learn and think about stuff. I just needed to get back, be confident, be myself, score, assist – and show what I can do.”

Mertens to Chelsea?

Le10Sport in France are reporting that Chelsea could move for Dries Mertens in the summer.

Martens’ contract with Napoli is up in the summer and he could move to Chelsea for free, but Inter Milan are also in for his signature.

Discussions are reportedly ‘underway’ and Mertens could be a Blues player in the summer – though Lampard has generally opted for youth this season.

The 32-year-old has played for Napoli for seven years and is ready for a new challenge, with other clubs also said to be interested in the Belgian.

Dembele latest

Lampard has admitted that the club have spoken about moving for Moussa Dembele, but still managed to remain coy on the situation.

Lampard said: “He is a player I know, and a player that the club know.

“But I’m surprised to see his name to pop up so regularly when it’s not popping up in my conversations so regularly, to be brutally honest.

“And there’s quite a few players in the last week I can say the same about. He’s a player I respect and I know he’s another team’s player.

“Of course, we’re looking to strengthen and I’ve spoken about strengthening in high areas, goalscorers, because it’s where we’ve been found pretty short in home games recently particularly.

Marcos Alonso is free to leave Chelsea.

That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim Frank Lampard believes the player is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Alonso, 29, has made eight Premier League appearances this season with Italian Emerson Palmieri preferred at left-back.

Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are among the clubs interested in signing the defender.

It’s beliefs Chelsea have set Giroud’s asking price at £8.5million – £5m more than Inter’s current £3.4m valuation.

Tammy Abraham stalling

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham will wait to see if the Blues sign a new striker before penning a new contract, reports have claimed.

The 22-year-old is currently in talks with the Blues over extending his stay at Stamford Bridge after establishing himself as Frank Lampard’s first-choice centre-forward.

Express Sport understands that Chelsea have made Moussa Dembele, Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha targets to mark the end of their transfer ban.

And according to The Athletic, Abraham is waiting to see what happens with potential moves for the likes of Dembele and Werner before signing a new contract.

Samuel Chukwueze to Liverpool

Liverpool are interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

That’s according to French publication Foot Mercato, who claim Chukwueze has been ‘promised’ to a Premier League club.

The Nigeria international has previously been linked with Lyon and Chelsea – but Jurgen Klopp could make the 20-year-old his second January signing after the arrival of Takumi Minamino.

The report claims Chukwueze has a £53.5million release clause but Villarreal would do business for £34m.

Thomas Lemar decision

Chelsea are ready to take Thomas Lemar on loan from Atletico Madrid for the remainder of the season.

Frank Lampard would see signing the Frenchman as a stop-gap before going all out to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer.

The Borussia Dortmund winger is unlikely to make a move this month and a bid of around £100million would be made at the end of the season.

Tottenham were first to register their interest in a loan move for Lemar, who earns £102k per-week at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, but the Blues are now leading the race, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Olivier Giroud agrees terms

Chelsea star Olivier Giroud has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan but talks are still ongoing between the two clubs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Giroud’s agent met with Inter officials on Thursday in Milan and is ready to join Antonio Conte’s side in a two-year deal but the Serie A giants have yet to shake hands with the Blues.

Giroud has been struggling for playing time at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard as he plays second fiddle to in-form Tammy Abraham who has scored 12 goals in 20 Premier League matches.

“Exclusive: Olivier Giroud agent met Inter directors today in Milano,” Romano tweeted. “The French striker would be ready to join and agreed personal terms (contract until 2022) – but talks are still on between Inter and Chelsea, no agreement yet btw the two clubs.”

Issa Diop latest

Chelsea have been told it will take a bid of at least £50million to secure the signing of Issa Diop from West Ham.

Express Sport exclusively revealed earlier this week that the Blues are set to launch a £40m bid for the Frenchman, who has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.

And following our report, Solhekol opened up on Chelsea’s chances of landing Diop, quoting the figure he believes will be enough to entice West Ham into a sale.

“Issa Diop, that was the player that was mentioned to me on Monday,” he said on the Sky Sports Transfer Show. “I’m being told today that it’s not a case of West Ham wanting to sell him, but if a big bid was made for him, every player has his price.

“That price would be about £50million, more than £50m and there is the potential for West Ham to sell him.”

Paulo Dybala deal

Paulo Dybala is set to sign a lucrative new deal with Juventus.

Manchester United and Tottenham were eager to sign the Argentine international last summer but the deal failed to materialise.

And any chance of resurrecting the deal looks over.

Goal claim Maurizio Sarri’s side have offered Dybala, 26, a new long-term deal at the Allianz Stadium.

Erling Haaland clause

Manchester United can still sign Erling Braut Haaland in 2022 thanks to a clause in his contract that can force Borussia Dortmund to sell him.

United made Haaland their top target ahead of the January transfer window but the former Red Bull Salzburg superstar ultimately put pen to paper on an £18million deal with Dortmund in December.

According to Bild, however, the Bundesliga giants agreed to include an exit clause to the striker’s four-and-a-half-year contract which means he can force the club to sell him two years before the agreement comes to an end.

Dortmund didn’t have much choice but to agree with the Norway international’s demands as United as well as other European heavy hitters like Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona were pushing for his signature.

Dayot Upamecano pursuit

Barcelona want to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Spanish publication Sport claim the Catalan giants want Upamecano, 21, at the Nou Camp and have made him their top priority in the January transfer window.

The Spanish champions have followed Upamecano, 21, for several months and believe he would be happy to join – despite interest from Premier League Arsenal.

The talented centre-back is thought to command a £50million fee and talks are believed to have already started, El Desmarque claim.

Juventus raid

Manchester United could be raided by Juventus the same way they signed Paul Pogba on a free transfer back in 2012.

The Italian giants are said to be keen to sign a pre-contract agreement with Tahith Chong, who will see his current contract expire in the summer.

Despite his struggle to secure playing time at senior level, joint Serie A leaders Juventus are said to have seen enough to try and secure his services.

Italian outlet Tuttosport have claimed that the players agent Erkan Alkan has not entered talks with United over a possible extension, with Juventus hoping to step in and secure an agreement over the next few months.
