Philippe Coutinho return

Bayern Munich will not sign Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis.

The Brazil international, 27, joined the Bundesliga champions on a season-long loan having failed to justify his £105million price-tag at the Nou Camp.

Bayern have the option to buy Coutinho for £101million at the end of the campaign.

But German newspaper Bild claim the club’s executives don’t think he’s impressed enough and will decline to exercise their purchase option.

Kepa Arrizabalaga sale

Chelsea are open to selling Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.

That’s according to Bleacher Report, who claim Roman Abramovich and co. are considering Burnley’s Nick Pope a possible replacement.

Kepa, 25, still remains Chelsea’s record signing having arrived from Athletic Bilbao for £72million in August 2018.

The Spanish goalkeeper and midfielder N’Golo Kante are the club’s two top earners at Stamford Bridge – earning a reported £150,000 per-week.

Edinson Cavani offer

Chelsea have submitted an offer for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani.

According to The Times, Chelsea have tabled a £12million deal that includes Cavani’s £360,000 per-week wages and a £5m loan fee.

PSG sporting director Leonardo confirmed Cavani’s transfer request on Sunday, with the 116-cap forward desperate to secure first-team opportunities elsewhere.

Cavani has helped PSG win 18 trophies including five Ligue 1 titles since joining from Napoli in 2013, scoring a club-record 198 goals in all competitions.

Moussa Dembele statement

Chelsea and Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their efforts to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele after the Lyon striker declared that he will remain with the French club until the end of the season.

Both English sides have showed serious interest in the 23-year-old’s services.

But Dembele, who both Chelsea and United are understood to have made approaches for this month, has said he will stay with Lyon until the summer.

“I am a Lyon player and I will remain so until the end of the season,” he after his side’s win over Lille on Tuesday night. “I do not think that there will be a departure this winter.

“Lots of things are being said. It is up to me to ignore that and remain concentrated on the pitch.”

All about February

Cesar Azpilicueta has warned Chelsea that February could be a pivotal month in their battle for a top-four Premier League finish.

The frustrated skipper was left to lament another missed opportunity as Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by 10-man Arsenal in west London on Tuesday.

“We have missed many opportunities to be higher up the table, so we have to learn from that,” said Azpilicueta. “We cannot go back and change the results from the last few games.

“And now we have three important games in front of us in the Premier League that could define our position in the table. And obviously every point is huge, and hopefully we can have good games and win them.

“It’s going to be an important month. But every match is three points to be played for the same way we have been fighting for three points in every other game.”
