Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester United star Dean Henderson in a £50m deal that would see the goalkeeper replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge.

Henderson is yet to play a game for the Red Devils but has been on their books since he was a youngster and his form for Sheffield United this term has seen his stock skyrocket.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to stick with David De Gea despite the Spaniard’s drastic drop in form and the former Atletico Madrid star signed a new five-year deal in 2019.

Henderson believes he’s ready to take over from De Gea and he’s impatient for an opportunity, despite enjoying his time at Bramall Lane.

United are happy for him to spend another season with the Blades and will even offer him a new deal as a show of faith that they believe in his long-term future at Old Trafford.

But Chelsea believe they can capitalise on the situation and are willing to offer around £50m to sign Henderson, according to the Sun.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s form this term has been poor and Frank Lampard recently dropped the Spaniard in favour of Willy Caballero.

The Blues paid around £71m for the Spaniard in 2018 but he’s failed to justfiy that price tag and the club are likely to listen to offers for him this summer.

Henderson has two years to run on his existing deal at Old Trafford and, should he agree to another loan deal without signing fresh terms, the club will find themselves in a difficult position of him having just a year left when they potentially want him to take over from De Gea in 2021.

Sheffield United are understandably keen to keep him and know they stand no chance of signing him on a permanent basis without a clause safeguarding his return to Old Trafford.
