JOE COLE says he felt the old buzz of the beautiful game again during his epic cross-Channel kayak adventure.
Brave Cole, 37, paddled the 22 miles to France in just 5 ½ hours alongside pal Dave Horton in aid of two charities.
The former Chelsea and West Ham midfielder who won three Premier League titles, trained for four months to raise more than £12,000 so far for Richard House Hospice in East London and for Tree of Hope.
Cole finally got the all clear for his mammoth crossing of the world’s busiest shipping lane on Saturday after a week’s delay due to high winds.
He said: “It was an amazing experience. I enjoyed it immensely and I felt the nerves and thrill of playing football again, which I miss a lot.
“And I raised money for two good causes. Thanks to everyone who donated.”
The Englishman is currently working as a part-time coach with Chelsea‘s youth academy.
He previously told SunSport that former Lille teammate and current Blues star Eden Hazard would be one of only two footballers alongside Lionel Messi that he would pay to watch.
