Chelsea in Romelu Lukaku transfer boost with ‘tension’ growing at Inter Milan

Chelsea have seen their attempts to sign Romelu Lukaku boosted amid claims of tension at Inter Milan. The Blues look ready to move on from their Erling Haaland transfer chase the summer.

Tension in the Inter Milan camp could see Chelsea benefit as they lead the chase to sign Lukaku this summer.

Thomas Tuchel has been hellbent on bringing a striker to the Blues this transfer window with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner faltering last season.

Borussia Dortmund star Haaland has been the top target after scoring 41 times in 41 games but the rest of Europe are also chasing his signature.

However, the German side have insisted the 21-year-old is not for sale and are ready to reject all bids.

It has left Chelsea eyeing their second target – Lukaku – who had a brilliant season of his own after ending Juventus’ monopoly of Serie A with Inter Milan, scoring 24 times in the process.

Tuchel is a massive fan of the Belgium international and the Blues would love to bring him back to Stamford Bridge – seven years after selling him.

An offer of £85m, plus Marcos Alonso, was rejected by Inter this summer but Chelsea are ready to return with another bid.

And according to CalcioMercato, via Sport Witness, there is a growing tension at the San Siro amid the transfer saga.

That is because the Italian club can only resist up to a certain point and will likely adhere to Lukaku’s wishes.

If the 28-year-old tells them he wants to leave, then they will react accordingly and Lukaku is reported to be thinking bout a move, according to Di Marzio.

The former Manchester United star could earn £12.5m-a-year at Stamford Bridge – a massive increase on his current salary.

Following the departures of Antonio Conte and Achraf Hakimi, there is a doubt over how ambitious the Suning Group owners are at the San Ciro.

After winning the Scudetto, instead of building on that success it appears the club are willingly letting their best assets go to bolster their funds.

If Lukaku leaves, there could be outrage from Inter fans, while fellow strike partner Lautaro Martinez could also be sold amid links to Arsenal.
