Chelsea begin Coutinho talks, Man Utd's Kane chances, Everton eye Real Madrid duo

Kane warning

Jamie Carragher has warned Harry Kane to move soon or risk putting himself in the wrong age bracket for an elite club.

Kane has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, but Carragher worries clubs will be put off by his age should he not make that move soon.

“If Kane does not leave soon, the situation gets trickier for him,” Carragher wrote in his Irish Independent column.

“When players hit 28, psychologically it makes a big difference to clubs. They see them as nearer 30, recognise there is no resale value.

“Manchester United’s need for a top-class No 9 is urgent and they might see Kane as the ideal fit, but they will apply the same logic if the fee is upwards of £150 million (€170m).

“From Kane’s perspective, is United’s situation better than Spurs’s over the past five years? There is a four-point gap in the Premier League but United remain in transition.

“It would be a gamble for Kane to go to Old Trafford given there is no strong evidence United will be ready to challenge for the Premier League soon.

“Even if Kane was 21 or 22, although it would be a no-brainer for all the top clubs to pursue him, it would be difficult to make a deal happen soon.”

Juve eye City swap deal

Juventus are keen on a deal that would see Douglas Costa go to Manchester City in exchange for Gabriel Jesus.

The City striker has been linked with a move this year after struggling for form, although he showed his best against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

But Juve are coming up with a package that could tempt City to sell.

Costa has been touted around Europe for a while now with links to Manchester United as well, but City could be convinced with doubts over the future of Leroy Sane.

Calcio Mercato report that a deal could be on the table for City to mull over.

It will depend on whether City see Jesus as a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero or not.

Chelsea in Coutinho talks

Chelsea are in talks to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona – with Bayern Munich set to decide against triggering their option to sign the playmaker.

Chelsea are looking for summer reinforcements after choosing not to sign anyone in January despite having their transfer ban overturned.

And, according to Nicolo Shira, the Blues are in talks with Coutinho but face competition from Tottenham who are also keen.

Chelsea are also said to be in talks over a deal for full-back Alex Telles from Porto as Frank Lampard eyes a new left-back.

Ben Chilwell was the club’s first choice but they have cooled their interest due to Leicester’s asking price.

Kane to Man Utd

Manchester United have ‘no chance’ of signing Harry Kane from Tottenham, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United’s links with Kane have grown in recent weeks following Kane’s admission that he would leave if Tottenham can’t match his ambition.

But the MEN report that sources close to Kane insist a deal is impossible due to his contract running until 2024.

United don’t want to get into long-winded talks with Tottenham having battled with Daniel Levy in the past, and would only make a move if they were given proper encouragement.

Everton eye Bale and Rodriguez

Everton are eyeing an ambitious move to land Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

Carlo Ancelotti has made a huge impact at Goodison Park already and now he’s keen to reunite with two Real Madrid stars.

Both will be allowed to leave Madrid if they can find buyers, although Everton will be asked to stump up astronomical amounts for the pair.

Marca report however that Everton are looking into it.
