But now it is time for Maurizio Sarri to sit down with the club and sort out what will happen next season.

The Italian, 60, confirmed yesterday that talks will take place and it is reported his agent, Fali Ramadani, is flying to London to meet Marina Granovskaia.

Sarri said last night: “The season is finished one hour ago. Tomorrow, I will begin to speak with my club, with the owner, with a director, with Marina… I don’t know. We need to speak like at any club at the end of the season.

“We need to know what the club can do for me, and what I can do better for the club. Also the club need to speak to me. Then, after a couple of days, I will decide. I have a contract so, at the moment, we are talking about nothing.”

According to The Times, Sarri will tell the club he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge next season – but only if the club will give him their full backing.

RECOVERED WELL

The manager was on the brink of the sack earlier in the season but turned it around to secure third in the Premier League, a Carabao Cup final and, finally, the Europa League.

He has just one year left on his deal and is understood to be a target for Juventus, with talks between Chelsea chief Bruce Buck and Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli.

The Old Lady have parted company with Massimiliano Allegri and could pay just £5million in compensation to land Sarri this summer.

And while it seems the club are yet to decide whether they want to stick or twist, Chelsea defender David Luiz is clearly keen for the boss to stay.

Following last night’s victory, he said: “Yes. He’s doing great. He did great during the season even with all the difficulties we had.

“It’s his first season at Chelsea, his first in English football. He is a great person, a great guy, a great manager and we finished in the best way for him because we finished winning a trophy in his way.

“Even after we conceded a goal at 3-1 we continued to play his philosophy and continued to try to score more goals. It was the best end of the season for him and he deserved that.

“It is for the club to decide, but I am so happy with him. Sometimes we are with the guys we work with more than our families. We make some connections. I think Maurizio did that with us. He has some connections with us, that’s why he loves this group.”
