FOOTIE ace Ched Evans, cleared of rape, got a £624,000 payout to leave Sheffield United, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.
The striker, 30, had been in line for a huge salary hike from £3,000 a week to £12,000 after the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
Instead they decided to pay him a year’s salary as part of a deal which saw him sign with Fleetwood Town last week.
Ched — jailed for rape in 2012 then found not guilty in a retrial — spent last year on loan at the League One team. He had a year left at Sheffield and is expected to stay on £3,000 a week.
A source said: “Sheffield were keen for him to move on.” Both clubs declined to comment.
