From food to presents, cities like Berlin, Vienna and Prague puts on the whole shebang when it comes to their markets.

Here’s our round up of the best, and cheapest, ones to visit:

Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and Cologne from £99pp

Wowcher has a deal on a holiday to German Christmas market cities including Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg from £99pp.

Germany is known for its Christmas markets, or Christkindlmarkt, and are the perfect place to stock up on presents and drink mulled wine.

Berlin alone has over 60 different Christmas markets to explore – though you might need more than a weekend to do that.

The most famous is the Charlottenburg Castle market, which is the first on the list for most visitors.

Find great value weekend breaks on British Airways with prices starting at £120pp including flights and a hotel.

You can also book a budget-friendly hostel plus flights break for a little as £69pp in Berlin’s city centre with Lastminute.com.

Warsaw, Prague or Budapest from £89pp

If you’ve already been to Germany, Groupon has an offer to explore a Christmas Market in one of 13 European cities, including Warsaw, Prague and Budapest.

The trip costs £89 per person for two nights, include return flights and accommodation in the city centre.

For those unfamiliar with these destinations, Prague’s Christmas market is set in the Old Town Square near a giant Christmas tree, while Budapest has two main markets, one on Vorosmarty Square and a second one in its Christmas fair at the Basilica.

The Vorosmarty Christmas market is the older of the two with food stalls, crafts and free concerts to enjoy.

Warsaw hosts three main Christmas markets – so you’ll get plenty of choice if you’re looking for presents for your loved ones.

Tickets are sold in limited numbers, so you’ll have to be quick.

Amsterdam from £96pp

There are several Christmas markets worth visiting in Amsterdam.

The Dam Square market houses the famous big Christmas tree – which stands 20 metres tall.

There’s also the illuminated Bijenkorf, which symbolises Christmastime in the city.

The Museumplein and Leidseplein are famous for holding Amsterdam’s ice rinks, and are surrounded by a plethora of chalets and wintry bars.

Vienna from £91pp

Known as the Christkindlmarkts, there are more than 20 markets throughout the city, drawing in 3 million visitors per year to eat, drink and be merry.

The largest one is located in front of the grand City Hall where you’ll find a dedicated area for children to make cooking as well as choirs singing carols on weekends.

Return tickets from London Gatwick as well as a hotel are available for as little as £150pp for a four-night trip.
