Charmed season 2 to embrace a more supernatural direction

A spell is being cast on the Charmed reboot over at CBS – THR reports that the current showrunner has left the series, which has provided very decent ratings for the network at home and strong international sales so far abroad.

Carter Covington is being replaced by Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro on Charmed season 2, and a new “creative direction” is being targeted for the trio of budding witches, with the series set to “lean harder into its supernatural storylines and less into the family dynamic” that formed the narrative anchor of season 1.

Kruger and Shapiro previously co-created Salvation for CBS and served as executive producers on the nixed Halle Berry-starring Extant. Elsewhere, they were behind USA Network’s Necessary Roughness, and Bravo’s Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce.

Charmed season 2 release date

The Charmed reboot was only a little way into its first season when it was snapped up for a sophomore run by CBS back in January. Season 1 won’t finish for a little while, so we can probably expect season 2 late into 2019, or early 2020 at the latest.

Charmed season 2 cast

Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jeffery are sure to return for season 2, with Rupert Evans, Ser’Darius Blain and Nick Hargrove likely along for a second helping of witchcraft.
