Charlotte Groeneveld (aka The Fashion Guitar) on her limited edition collection for Amazon Fashion’s ‘Drop’ concept

In June, Amazon launched an all-new shopping concept called The Drop.

An aptly-named venture into the streetwear-led trend of frequent yet limited edition fashion collaborations, The Drop involves the online retailer partnering with a changing roster of fashion influencers, to create capsule a wardrobe which they release for a 30-hour window.

They have already collaborated with three influencers since the concept launched back in June (Paolo Alberdi, Sierra Furtado, and Patricia Bright) but the latest collection, which goes live at 5pm on Tuesday 6, is definitely the coolest yet.

Created in partnership with uber-cool Scandi blogger Charlotte Groeneveld (aka @fashionguitar), the 14-piece collection is a lust-worthy line up of pastel maxis, hot pink palazzo pants and ditsy floral print smocked tops.

Prices for the collection start at £14.90 and go up to £62, with dresses ranging from £42.90 for a mini dress up to £62.90 for the yellow silky maxi. In addition to The Drop’s limited edition collections, Amazon also offers Staples by The Drop – must-have wardrobe heroes that provide the building blocks for the rest.

We caught up with Charlotte Groeneveld to hear her tips and tricks for styling the pieces…

What were your inspirations when designing the collection?

The collection is an extension of my wardrobe, but filling the gaps with pieces I felt were still missing. It’s inspired by today’s street style rather than runway collections. It brings together everything I love seeing on women around me, and reflects our forever summer mood.

Which are your three favourite pieces?

I put a lot of love into the entire collection, and I love every piece, so I wasn’t going to settle for anything less than perfect. But, if I have to really pick, I pick the three maxi-dresses, in particular the green one – a beautiful prairie dress, for modern day city life.

How will you style the maxi dresses?

It would depend on the colour, so for example the pink cotton maxi dress I’d pair with white sneakers and a straw bag! It’s all about the high/low styling – this maxi dress is not more than $80 and is 100% cotton! So I might switch up the sneakers for my The Row sandals, or maybe the new Bottega Veneta mules.

How would you advise someone to style the hot pink trousers?

I would style with a white boxy top with a French tuck, or a tank top. And in winter with an oversized chunky knit in navy.

Have you always loved colour?

Absolutely, I love combining different shades, and for this collection I always had a very clear idea on the pastel-theme. I think it’s the go-to palette for summer – pastels make me happy!

What trend do you think will be big for autumn?

I love autumn colours such as navy, dark and olive green, and burgundy, which are always big at that time of year. But I also saw some bright pink fuchsia suiting, so I’m definitely going to try that with my own pair of trousers from the collection!
