Charlie's Angels trailer: first look at the action-packed reboot

A ‘continuation’ of the Charlie’s Angels legacy marks Elizabeth Banks’ sophomore directorial effort for Sony, which released its first trailer today. Charlie’s Angels won’t be ignoring the TV show or McG’s films, but has rather positioned itself as a ‘standalone’ big-screen sequel, and the third film in the series. It also boasts a new song from the trio of Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey, which should help to promote the movie no end.

Starring Kristen Stewart (Personal Shopper), Ella Balinska (The Athena) and Naomi Scott (Aladdin) as the new Angels, and Banks (Pitch Perfect), Patrick Stewart (Picard) and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians Of The Galaxy) as the new Bosleys – there’s more than one in this – and also featuring new He-Man Noah Centineo, the plot of the movie will find the Angels tackling a fresh global threat. As the official synopsis reads:

“Charlie’s Angels have always provided security and investigative skills to private clients, and now the Townsend Agency has expanded internationally, with the smartest, most fearless, most highly trained women all over the globe – multiple teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs across the world. When a young systems engineer blows the whistle on a dangerous technology, these Angels are called into action, putting their lives on the line to protect us all.”

“There is a kitsch nature to the last ones that was super fun, but nowadays if you see a woman in combat, everything should be something completely and utterly well within their ability,” Stewart told Comicbook. “And [the new trio of Angels] work together really, really beautifully. And there’s a whole network of Angels — it’s not just three — it’s women across the entire globe [that] are connected and helping each other.”

Charlie’s Angels will be released in UK cinemas on 29 November.
