Charlie Hunnam has revealed he may have coronavirus for the second time despite having a negative test result earlier in the week.

The actor, 40, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live via video link where he told the host he had been feeling under the weather.

He explained: ‘I’m not sure what I have. I have a little bit of a persistent fever, a dry cough, a little bit of fatigue, so… it could be Covid.

‘I went and had a test earlier this week, a rapid test, and it came back negative. So I might just be unfairly jumping to conclusions. But it feels consistent.’

The Sons Of Anarchy star revealed that he had already had coronavirus earlier in the year which is why he suspected he might have it again.

He revealed: ‘I had it earlier this year, and it didn’t feel like this. It wasn’t particularly acute, I just lost my sense of taste and smell for about 10 days and had a little bit of fatigue.

‘This feels very, very different. This feels much more like flu, but we’re just getting on with it.’

He had realised that he lost his sense of taste and smell when he couldn’t smell the coffee he was making himself one morning, adding: ‘It was very early on so that piece of this hadn’t really come to light as a symptom of mild Covid.’

Charlie added that it would be unlikely for him to have caught coronavirus as he revealed: ‘The irony is, I don’t know how I would have got sick again because I haven’t left the house in six months other than to take my new cat to the vet.’

The cat in question is Charlie’s new rescue pet, Cleopatra, and he revealed: ‘Whether I just have a cold or flu or something, the only time I’ve ever been in any sort of contact with the outside world was taking her to the vet, and it turns out what she has is feline coronavirus.’

Thankfully cats usually have a much milder response to coronavirus than humans, so hopefully Cleopatra (and Charlie, of course) will be feeling better soon.
