Charli XCX has hit back at Instagram for deleting a video of her dancing to Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s hit WAP.

And how has she hit back? By sharing the video a second time, of course.

The Boys singer re-posted the clip along with a fittingly defiant caption.

‘Instagram deleted my epic WAP video so I’m re-posting,’ she said.

‘Coz last time I checked it wasn’t offensive to dance around in a bikini and swim goggles.’

Quite.

At the time of writing, the video remained on the star’s profile.

Nevertheless, Instagram took issue with the video and took it down, leading to Charli re-posting it (Picture: Charlie XCX/Instagram)

Charli isn’t the only celebrity to post video reactions to the song of the summer: Charlie Puth, Jason Derulo and James Charles, to name but a few, can’t stop talking about it/dancing to it either.

The track has experienced sensational success, topping the charts in both the US and the UK, as well as Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

In America, the sex-positive song about vaginal lubrication became the first female rap collaboration to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, bringing in record streaming numbers in its first week (93 million).

This is a true cultural moment we’re witnessing. Congrats, both!

Charli’s video follows last week’s news that she is due to join the likes of Liam Gallagher and Post Malone at next year’s Reading and Leeds festivals.

Also lined up for next year’s festivals – which were cancelled this year due to coronavirus – are Stormzy, Doja Cat and Mabel.

Charli is known for songs like Boys, Vroom Vroom and Boom Clap.
