Channel Seven shares Plate of Origin trailer but Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan are edited out

Channel Seven reveals first trailer for Plate of Origin – but Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan are bizarrely edited out amid ‘contractual issues’ with Ten

It seems Channel Seven’s new cooking program Plate Of Origin is still being burdened by reported ‘contractual issues’ with Ten.

This week, the network released it’s first official trailer for the upcoming program, but fans quickly noticed that the identity of the show’s three judges were edited out.

While it has previously been widely advertised that Manu Feildel, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan will judge the show, the trailer bizarrely fails to mention their names.

Instead, the trailer teased: ‘For the first time, three superstars of food will come together for an event like no other.’

Meanwhile, none of the judges are actually pictured in the clip, except for a quick shot of the three men taken from the neck down.

It comes amid claims Seven has been prevented from using former MasterChef judges Matt and Gary in Plate Of Origin advertising materials as they are still contractually bound to their former employers at Ten.

‘For contractual reasons, Seven is now unable to publicly associate Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan with the new show,’ industry website TV Tonight alleged in January.

Similarly, the trio were not named or pictured in Seven’s online casting call for Plate of Origin earlier this year.

Plate Of Origin will see 10 teams from different countries compete in a ‘world cup’ style cooking battle.

It comes as it was revealed the show the season will be shorter than expected, with TV Blackbox reporting the run was cut by 10 to 12 shows.

The initial order was for 32 episodes, the website alleges, but will be slashed to around 20 episodes.

At the same time, it was said ‘a full scale review’ of the show may be underway, with producers reportedly hoping to make it ‘more like MasterChef rather than MKR’.
