Channel 4 have decided not to air The Surjury following Caroline Flack’s death, as they shared their sorrow at the star’s death.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: ‘We are shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news about Caroline Flack.

‘Our deepest sympathies go out to Caroline’s family and friends. Under the circumstances, we have decided not to broadcast The Surjury.’

The show, which would have seen people pitching to a jury of peers about whether they should have the cosmetic surgery they wanted, has now been shelved since Caroline’s death,

She had been vocal about her support for the concept, after critics voiced concerns it might be damaging to people’s self-esteem and encourage surgery.

Jameela Jamil also slammed the show in October, tweeting: ‘Welp. Black Mirror is officially happening guys. It’s here.’

Caroline hit back at Jameela’s tweet, replying: ‘Have you managed to see a copy before me? Please forward.. am desperate to see..’

She added: ‘Because I’ve filmed it and the people who have taken part are amazing and have been through a lot and life is about individual choice…’

Saturday night’s episode of Love Island: Unseen Bits was also cancelled by ITV2 following the tragic news.

Caroline’s family confirmed that she had passed away, releasing a statement reading: ‘We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.

‘We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.’

A lawyer for the family also confirmed that Caroline had died by suicide, as fans and celebrity pals shared their condolences.

Caroline had battled depression and had previously spoken about being on anti-depressants for six months following her Strictly Come Dancing win.

She told The Sun: ‘People see the celebrity lifestyle and assume everything is perfect, but we’re just like everyone else. Everyone is battling something emotional behind closed doors — that’s life.

‘Fame doesn’t make you happy. Anti-depressants helped me get up in the morning, and stopped me from being sad, but what they also do is stop you from being happy.

‘So I was just in this numb state. I stopped laughing at jokes, and that’s just not me.’

Caroline had recently stepped down from hosting the first winter series of Love Island after being charged with assault following a row with her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.

She had pled not guilty and was awaiting her trial to begin on 4 March.
