Champions League draw: When is it? Who can Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham face in last 16?

The final round of Champions League group stage matches is over – so when is the draw for the last 16? And who is in it?

Liverpool and Chelsea made sure of their spots in the last 16 on Tuesday night – ensuring all four English teams will progress to the next stage of the Champions League.

Tottenham and Manchester City were both already qualified from Group B and Group C respectively before their games on Wednesday, when 14 of the 16 spots were already wrapped up.

City were comfortable victors away in Croatia while a changed Spurs side fell to Bayern Munich, who beat them 7-2 back in October under Mauricio Pochettino.

City’s group was one of two in which places in the next round were available and their 4-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb saw the Croatian team finish bottom of the group as Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick.

Shakhtar Donetsk were primed to go through in second but needed to beat Atalanta in Ukraine.

And they fell to a 3-0 defeat on home soil, with the Italian side making the next round despite never previously taking part in the Champions League.

Group D was the only remaining group with a spot open, which was taken by Atletico Madrid as they disposed of Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Bayer Leverkusen therefore drop into the Europa League.
