Chadwick Boseman’s agent has spoken out following the actor’s death last month, to say he always chose roles that brought ‘light’.

Boseman – who appeared in films like 21 Bridges and Black Panther – died aged 43 on August 28 after a private battle with colon cancer.

Now his longtime agent Michael Green has been quoted in the Hollywood Reporter, explaining that the star’s ethics guided his decision-making when it came to his career.

‘We never did really dark movies or movies that were just people shooting everybody and perpetuating darkness,’ Greene [pictured below with Boseman] said.

He then added: ‘The amount of time that we strategized over whether he should do a role for the betterment of humanity — it was always about utilizing his platform. “How can I give back? How will this be valuable to the Black community, and the community at large?”

‘He was always, “What will I be able to tell through this role?” That’s how we chose almost all his roles. Somebody once said, “He’s playing a lot of biopic people.” We said, “It didn’t hurt Leonardo DiCaprio.”‘

Beautiful words indeed.

In a recent Instagram post, Greene also called the ‘outpouring of love’ for Boseman ‘so deserved.’

Green’s comments follow another report in the Hollywood Reporter today that Boseman kept his cancer battle a secret because he hoped to beat it until around a week before his death.

Boseman is survived by his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.

The star’s other film roles include 42 and Marshall.
