Tory MP Simon Clarke said the “bottom line” was that “travel abroad this year is unlikely”.
He tweeted: “Holidays within the UK are likely by the summer, but the government can’t make a hard and fast statement to this effect at this stage.”
More details will be announced in the week beginning February 22 as part of the promised roadmap out of lockdown, Mr Johnson vowed.
With schools set to return on March 8 and fast progress being made with the UK’s vaccination programme, lockdown is looking set to be eased slowly over the coming months.
