Celtic legend Murdo MacLeod plays policeman in new Hollywood film

Celtic legend Murdo McLeod plays a policeman in a new Hollywood film – but says he’ll stick to his day job.

Former footballer Murdo, who managed Dumbarton and Partick Thistle, was assistant manager at Celtic and and also played for Borussia Dortmund and Hibernian, was given a role in new movie It’s Not Over.

He was made a policeman for the film which stars Hamilton born actor Gianni Capaldi, Christopher Lambert and Polish actress Weronika Rosati.

Murdo who filmed his all important scenes outside the Avonbridge Hotel in Hamilton revealed he is beginning to be typecast as policemen in films but admitted it wasn’t going to his head.

Murdo also played a policeman in Isolani and – while showing off his authentic looking uniform for the new thriller movie – said: “I’m delighted to be in the film and I must look like a policeman cause I keep getting asked to be one.

The sporting star also admitted he wasn’t keen on the long days on set and added: “It’s a wee dabble a wee bit of fun. At football you knew what time you were turning up at.”

“If you were playing at three pm you’d turn up to play for three pm, but with movie work you turn up and it goes on all day.”

Gianni Capaldi, who thought Murdo would suit the role, joked: “In fairness he’s probably a better footballer.”

Murdo said he’s keen to watch Scotland play Croatia tomorrow and added: ‘Right now I’m enjoying the football and just hoping Scotland will win it with one game left. If we do that, I will be delighted.

He said:”I thought their performance again England was great and hopefully we can perform the same again.”
