Celeste only started to understand love after writing first album: ‘It’s a picture of me evolving’

Celeste is on a meteoric learning curve — in her love life as well as music career.

The soul sensation’s record Not Your Muse has made her the first female to reach No.1 with her debut album in five years. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old, who is dating poet Sonny Hall, 22, is getting to grips with her first love affair.

‘Only now, in the last year or so, have I experienced what I can understand as real love,’ said Celeste, who sang A Little Love for John Lewis’s Christmas ad last year.

‘All the things I’ve written up until then were confused in a way. There’s a lot of love and romance on the album, and it’s a picture of me evolving as a person. I’m not completely grown up yet but I guess I would like to describe it as like coming into womanhood.

‘It’s only in the last two years that I’ve stopped feeling like I’m 21.’

The Brits’ rising star winner could soon join Adele and Lady Gaga as an Oscar winner.

Her track Hear My Voice, from The Trial Of The Chicago 7, is hotly tipped for an Academy Award.

But the singer told Grazia: ‘I am not somebody who thinks of myself in that position like Adele or Lady Gaga.

‘I just go with the flow.’

More guilty pleasures…

Orlando behind the camera for Daisy’s debut

Orlando Bloom was allowed in the delivery room during the pandemic to film Katy Perry giving birth, she revealed.

She also said having daughter Daisy was the best decision she had ever made.

Recalling the arrival of their first child in an LA hospital last August, 36-year-old Katy said: ‘He was such a great support. He was so wonderful, just holding my hand and looking into my eyes. You want to film it but you also want to be present, so there’s a fine line.’

The Dark Horse singer, who switched back from blonde to brunette for a chat on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, said it helped that Orlando, 44, already had a ten-year-old son. She said: ‘As much as I was, “I don’t need to hear those stories”, they actually helped.’

Tiggs Da Author writes tracks from the heart

Tiggs Da Author says his debut album Blame It On The Youts is a tale close to home.

The 30-year-old said listeners would ‘be in the brain of this teenager who’s explaining how he feels’, adding: ‘Me growing up in south London with no father figure. You have to teach yourself to be a man.’

Sam’s strong message of support for Britney

Britney Spears’s boyfriend Sam Asghari is determined for the 39-year-old Toxic singer to have a ‘normal amazing future’ following the release of an unauthorised documentary, Framing Britney Spears.

‘I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half,’ said Sam.

Bastille went down a storm at their last gig

Bastille hint they might have had their swan-song in an upcoming documentary.

In the film, ReOrchestrated — which drops on Amazon Prime today — Kyle Simmons, 33, says of their ‘perfect’ War Child gig at the London Palladium last year: ‘If that happens to be the last show forever, I could sit comfortable with that.’
