Let’s face it, beauty treatments can be pricey.
And for a lot of us, a trip to the spa is more of a treat than a daily occurence.
So when I was asked if I’d like to try a 3D-Hydr02 Facial, the kind beloved by celebs like Danielle Lloyd, I jumped at the chance.
The 3D-Hydr02 Facial uses a combination of seven advanced technologies to target an array of universal skin concerns including dehydration, skin-ageing, loose skin, dull complexion and congestion.
After seeing how complex – and quite frankly how fancy it looked – I couldn’t wait to have a go.
I’ve had facials before, but this really was something else.
After my therapist talked me through what she was going to do and showed me around the fancy machine and all its gadgets and gizmos, I couldn’t wait to get started.
She explained to me that every treatment is bespoke, meaning it’s designed specifically for the person getting it, targeting any concerns and problem areas.
Prices start from £65 for an express facial and go up to £95 for a deluxe treatment, but my therapist said a full 90-minute treatment could cost as much as £150.
I was given a Hydro Peel that used a combination of three solutions to exfoliate my face and remove all the dead skin.
Even after this first treatment, there was already a noticeable difference.
My skin felt so fresh and clean that I could hardly believe it.
A Deep Cleanse drew oxygen into my skin to really leave it feeling fabulous and an Oxygenation spray felt oddly soothing.
My therapist performed a skin tightening using radiofrequency and hydrated my skin with ultrasound technology.
The fire and ice treatment was what really made me sit up and notice – although not literally as I opted to lay back and enjoy the treatment.
Most people’s skin temperature sits at around 33C, but the fire treatment heated my skin up to 40C to open my pores and increase the blood supply in my face, in turn evening out the skin tone.
I was warned about how hot it would feel compared to my usual skin temperature, but on a cold winter’s day it was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Lying back with my eyes closed, I could image that I’d left behind the dreary London weather for somewhere that’s a lot more pleasant this time of year.
The heat felt soothing and cosy, and it was easy to relax into the massage table.
The cold then tightened up my pores to leave my skin feeling flawless.
Of course, I’m no expert in how everything works, but I was told that all the treatments did things to break down the collagen in my face and make my body produce some to replace it.
The creators of the 3D-Hyrd02 Facial have dubbed it the “#fivestarfacial”, and I have to say, that’s not simply them blowing their own trumpet.
Even days later, my skin still feels and looks incredible.
Afterwards, I was shown the plastic cylinder where all of my “face gunk” had been collected, and I couldn’t believe how much dirt and rubbish had been sucked out of my pores – you’d think I never wash my face, which I promise I do.
I headed into work immediately after having mine done, and for the first time ever I walked into the office without any make up on.
I’ve always been way too self-conscious to head out without my war paint, but this time, it honestly didn’t bother me, and I can’t really give it a better review than that.
Not only did I feel confident enough to go out without make-up, but I also go loads of compliments about how good my skin looked.
I really can’t recommend it enough.
