The week’s just started. You haven’t recovered from the weekend (even if all you did is Netflix and chill by yourself).

Obviously, you need to ease into it. Why not start with some pictures of a delightful little cat enjoying his banana?

Little Bean, sweetly named Beanana by owner Chelsea Merrit from Utah, loves nothing more than gorging on the yellow stuff.

The first time he tasted the fruit was when he was six months old, and he’s never looked back.

His human Chelsea took him in in 2018 when he was abandoned by his mum.

Chelsea has delighted the internet with pics of Bean, though she notes it looks a bit inappropriate (get your head out of the gutter, people).

With her military husband deployed at the time, Chelsea loved having him for company and she has been doting on him since she laid eyes on him.

She tells Metro.co.uk: ‘My husband was deployed when I took him in and my kids were in school so I doted on him day and night.

‘I had to wake up every three hours to feed and clean him. He was the only kitten so he got a lot of extra attention.

‘I’d never intended on keeping Bean. I foster often so had planned on finding him a home when he was ready.

‘But we ended up buying a house and moving off the military base we’d been living on and I couldn’t part with him. We are so bonded, he’s like my child. We are still close.’

Thus grew a beautiful relationship, which involves many a banana being eaten.

Chelsea added: ‘Bean LOVES bananas. He first tasted them when he was between six and nine months old.’

Bean enjoys wet food twice a day but is partial to other bits of human food such as cheese, eggs, and yoghurt.

In case you’re wondering, bananas are not toxic to cats but contain a lot of sugar, which cats are not well-suited to digest.

So the occasional nibble will not kill your cat but regular exposure can raise blood sugar levels, which can lead to obesity and diabetes.

Bean has to share the attention with a few other pets in the home.

‘I have three other cats and they are my babies but Bean is definitely special,’ said Chelsea.

‘He loves the camera and is such a ham. He has such a big personality and he loves his momma. He is a sassy beast. Many bottle kittens are, and he can be a huge brat but I love his boisterous personality.

‘We do also have a dog. He helped me raise him and he sees Bean as his kitty. That cat can do no wrong in his eyes and will share any food with him.’

In the summer, Chelsea is going to get a tattoo of Bean. Definitely no favourites then.
