Casualty fans fear for Iain Dean in ANOTHER suicide attempt twist

Casualty‘s Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) was seen working as a 999 call operator in tonight’s episode, after returning to work following his suicide attempt.

The Casualty cast member tried to take his own life in harrowing scenes, and the show followed his journey in a paramedic special.

Iain was seen taking a number of calls from people in desperate scenarios, and he clearly seemed frustrated as he was no longer in the thick of the action.

At the start of the episode, he spoke to police officer Rox, who found two unconscious men in a warehouse, but panicked because she had broken protocol.

Later in the episode, he receives a call from her, as she is standing on the edge of a bridge, ready to take her own life.

Iain tried his best to talk her down, as she feared her job was over because she was going to have a misconduct hearing and could lose her job.

He eventually managed to talk Rox down from the bridge, and spoke to his therapist at the end of the episode as he realised he had saved a life.

Fans took to social media to pray this would mark the start of Iain’s recovery, as they hoped he wouldn’t feel suicidal again.

One posted: “Hope this will be the end for Iain’s mental health battle, would be devastated if he had suicidal thoughts again, but wouldn’t blame him with the paramedic job, it was so emotional.”

Another added: “Rox on the bridge was mirrored with Mia Bellis from way back in August.

“Iain didn’t recognise Mia’s pain, but he recognised Rox’s, and did whatever it took to make sure she saved her own life.”

A third chipped in: “I worry how Iain will react if he gets a hoax or an abusive caller.”

A fourth wrote: “I think being a paramedic will make Iain feel guilty about not being able to help.”

Is Iain going to finally start to feel better or is there more heartbreak ahead?

Casualty returns next Saturday at 8.20pm on BBC.
