Casualty couple FINALLY reunite after devastating diagnosis

In tonight’s episode of BBC series Casualty, Charlie and Duffy got back together after a rocky relationship.

Duffy (Cathy Shipton) was recently diagnosed with dementia, but didn’t want to let it stop her working.

She announced to her colleagues that she didn’t want to hide it anymore, and they were very supportive.

Duffy then went to speak to husband Charlie (Derek Thompson) to ask to put her back on normal duties.

Things took a turn for the worse when the father of her patient found out she had the condition.

He blew up and got seriously angry when his daughter had a seizure – though it was confirmed it had nothing to do with Duffy’s work.

Charlie got involved though and defended Duffy, which left her fuming with the long-running character.

Eventually, once things had blown over, the twosome reunited in the middle of the ward.

“Life’s too short to live the really hard bits before they’re even here”

Clearly emotional, Duffy said: “I think I was trying to feel like me again because I wasn’t when I was with you.”

She went on: “Since my diagnosis, well, I’ve been a patient to you and I don’t want to be your patient, Charlie, I want to be your wife.”

Charlie agreed, as Duffy continued: “I want a husband not a carer. I know you will have to be at some point but not yet, please.”

She finished: “Life’s too short to live the really hard bits before they’re even here.

“We’ve waited so long to be together, we’ve got to grab every second now while we still have each other.”

They hugged tight as they admitted they’d missed each other – but will that be the end of their struggles?

Casualty continues Saturday nights on BBC One.
