Real Madrid star Casemiro is open to joining Manchester United and has given ‘positive indications’ to the club over moving to Old Trafford.

The Brazil star has emerged as a priority target for the Red Devils following their failure to acquire Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

United had agreed a £63m deal for the Dutchman in July but they’ve failed to convince the midfielder to move to Old Trafford.

That’s forced United to assess other options and Casemiro, 30, is now their leading target in midfield.

The Brazilian has won five Champions League titles at the Bernabeu and a move to a club in the Europa League doesn’t look overly appealing from the outside.

However, the Athletic say Casemiro is keen on a move to Old Trafford and has given ‘positive indications’ that he is willing to leave Real Madrid.

United are believed to be preparing an offer of around £60m for the midfielder and he will be offered a contract of around four years.

Casemiro is in line to become one of the club’s top earners but reports that he will double his salary in Madrid are wide off the mark.

United are ‘attracted’ to the Brazilian’s level of professionalism, as well as his experience.

Casemiro could also help unlock Fred’s potential, as he plays behind the United midfielder at national level.

Ten Hag wants an anchor in midfield in order to control possession and Christian Eriksen failed to impress in the role against Brentford last weekend.
