The Masked Singer’s Jason Manford commemorated Caroline Flack ahead of the show’s finale following the shock news of the Love Island star’s death.

Finally being revealed as Hedgehog on tonight’s show, Jason Manford came second place in the singing competition, being beaten by Queen Bee, aka Nicola Roberts.

But rather than using the opportunity to celebrate his unmasking, Jason took a moment to instead remember Caroline, who died by suicide at her London home this Saturday aged 40.

Speaking ahead of the finale, Jason wrote on Twitter: I didn’t know Caroline well, we were Facebook pals & had worked together a handful of times & had mutual friends. Always seemed very lovely & professional.

‘You just never know what someone else is going through privately. Best to always err on the side of kindness just incase.’

He then revealed that as news broke of her court case for an assault by battery charge, he had reached out to her to lend his support.

‘I sent a msg before Xmas to say I was thinking of her & that whilst in the middle of it, when your life feels it’s caving in around you,you will get through it,’ he added in the second half of the message.

‘Just because you’re struggling, doesn’t mean you’re failing. Look after yourself folks, talk to someone, you are not alone.’

The star’s commemoration joins dozens of other stars who have remembered Caroline following the news of her death.

Caroline leaves behind a glittering 18-year career on TV’s most beloved shows including The Xtra Factor, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now, and most prominently, Love Island.

But she had removed herself from the public eye since December ahead of an assault by battery charge after a fight with boyfriend Lewis Burton, which she was due to appear in court over in March.

Stepping back from Love Island, Laura Whitmore took her place for the winter season, but there were reports the star was planning to reinvent herself, with her return to Love Island still a possibility.

Despite this, she sent her support to the team ahead of the NTAs in January, wishing them luck as they went up for best reality show.

Just yesterday, she posted a sweet picture cosied up to her beloved pet dog.
