Caroline Flack: Harry Styles will go ahead with BRITs performance days after ex's suicide

Caroline Flack died by suicide at the weekend, with fans, friends and those close to her in the entertainment industry paying tributes in the days since. Her former flame Harry Styles, who is 15 years her junior, was already scheduled to perform at tonight’s BRIT Awards ceremony. The Adore You hitmaker will be going ahead with his appearance as planned following Flack’s death.

“Despite the tragic news which will have affected him deeply, Harry’s looking for the BRIT Awards has not changed,” a source told the Daily Star.

“He will perform during the show as planned.”

Styles has not publicly addressed the death of his ex Flack, but his mother Anne Twist shared tributes on social media over the weekend.

Twist wrote in view of her 1.8 million followers: “Heartbreaking #RIPCarolineFlack.”

Flack previously addressed her romance with Styles in her 2015 autobiography, Storm in a C Cup, saying people would shout “paedophile” and “pervert” at her in the street after pictures emerged of the younger star leaving her house one morning.

“In the entertainment industry nobody asks what age you are,” she wrote. “I’ve never felt I was much older than Harry anyway.

“I still feel 18 and probably act that way half the time — all those years in kids’ telly probably didn’t help…

“We were both single, we got on well and we had a laugh,” she added.

In a statement, the family said: “We can confirm that our Caroline Passed away today, the 15th of February.

“We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time and we would ask they make no attempt to contact us and/or photograph us.”

Love Island, which was hosted by Flack up until the current series of the winter version, was taken off air for two nights following her death.

Last night, the ITV2 dating show returned to screens with a tribute to the presenter.

Narrator Iain Stirling read the tribute, which aired over aerial shots of the beaches and landscapes.

“Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers,” he said.

“Like many of you, right now we’re all just trying to come to terms with what’s happened.

“My only hope is that we can all try to be kinder, always show lover and listen to one another,” he continued.

“Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show.

You were a true friend to me. I’m going to miss you, Caz.”
