Caroline Flack has announced she is taking time out away from social media while she awaits trial on an assault charge.
The 40-year-old presenter is accused of attacking her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, with a lamp but pleaded not guilty to a charge of common assault during a court hearing this week.
Now in a bid to focus on her wellbeing, Caroline says she will not be posting on social media over the coming weeks.
In an Instagram post, the former Love Island presenter said: ‘Been advised not to go on social media … but I wanted to say happy Christmas to everyone who has been so incredibly kind to me this year.
‘This kind of scrutiny and speculation is a lot to take on for one person to take on their own [sic].’
Vowing to take valuable lessons from the ordeal, Caroline continued: ‘I’m a human being at the end of the day and I’m not going to be silenced when I have a story to tell and a life to keep going with.
‘I’m taking someone time out to get feeling better and learn some lessons from situations I’ve got myself into to [sic].’
She added: ‘I have nothing but love to give and best wishes for everyone [sic].’
Caroline was arrested earlier in December after Lewis, 27, called 999 claiming she was ‘beating [him] up’ and had hit him over the head with a lamp while he slept.
According to prosecutors, the couple opened the door to police who saw them covered in blood and likened the scenes to a ‘horror movie’.
It’s alleged that Caroline then became ‘disruptive’ while in police custody and flipped a table over, causing them to restrain her on the ground.
Lewis required hospital treatment for a ‘serious head injury’.
However, the tennis player and model has publicly stood by Caroline and appeared in court on Monday.
Lewis has denied that she hit him with a lamp and told his Instagram followers after the hearing: ‘It’s been heartbreaking I can’t see my girlfriend over Christmas. What I witnessed today was horrible. She did not hit me with a lamp.
‘Arguments do happen every day in every relationship. Gutted I am not allowed to protect her right now.’
