Caroline Flack and Lewis Burton’s contact ban was “cruel and made things worse”, according to inside sources.

It’s now claimed sources blasted the ban as “unnecessary” especially when the television presenter was “already very vulnerable”.

Flack was charged with assault by beating following an alleged early-morning altercation with Lewis which led to her arrest in mid-December.

The former Love Island host was barred from indirectly and directly messaging her boyfriend in person and on social media during her bail before her upcoming trial on March 4.

She told The Sun’s executive Editor Dan Wootton on his talkRADIO Drive Time Show: “Caroline just wanted to be with Lewis. She wanted the charges dropped, she felt it was unfair.

“She would say, ‘I’ll plead guilty so this all goes away’ but she didn’t want to plead guilty because she didn’t think she was and neither do I.”
