Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman, 60, has taken to Instagram to reveal the results of her botched hair dye job to her 103,000 followers. In a series of Instagram stories, the pilot revealed that she was unhappy with her freshly dyed locks, which she described as “virtually black”, after aiming for a “mid-brown” colour.
Revealing her freshly-dyed hair from the get-go, the star said that her long locks were now a dark brown chestnut colour, instead of her usual lighter hue.
“So I’ve got a bit of an issue with my hair,” the star said in a new video.
“A couple of days ago I thought, ‘I know, I’ll dye it like a mid-brown.'”
However, the star said she’d accidentally left on the box-dye for three times longer than instructed.

“Anyway, then a trauma happened which hasn’t been pleasant for the last couple of days but hopefully it’s sorted and…” Carol continued before cutting herself off.
The star went on to explain: “Anyway, I left it on, when it said 20 minutes It was probably [on for] an hour and now it’s virtually black.”
Clearly unhappy with the results of her attempts, the star grimaced at the camera before asking her fans for advice.
“Help, how do I get the dark colour out of my hair?” she wrote on the following story.
Earlier this week the star took the opportunity to wish her scientist daughter a happy birthday on her social media accounts.
She began: “Happy Birthday to my kind, hilarious, hard working, loving, talented, geek girl Katie @katie.science.
“Katie was 2 months premature (worrying times). Now she’s a Research scientist @cambridgeuniversity #NASA #SpaceFreak #Pilot #singer #WannabeAstronaut.”
She continued: “A few pics of Katie interviewing Apollo Astronaut, hanging out @ragnboneman …..us at the same age (9), growing up and flying our plane together #pilots.
“It’s not often I ever talk about my children….I kept their lives very private as kids but now they’re grown up…well I’m allowed to say how proud I am of them both.”
Carol finished: “Happy Birthday Katie King ….soooooooo many adventures to come…..bring it on.”(sic)
The proud mum also posted a tribute to Katie on her Twitter and included a photo with her brother, Cameron.
“Happy Birthday @KKing_5 from me and your brother….. No shaking us off,” she wrote on Twitter alongside a series of love heart and laughing face emojis.
