Carol Decker then and now: What is 80s singer's age? What does she look like now?

Back in 1987, British pop group T’Pau shot to fame with their song Heart and Soul. The band named after a Vulcan elder in Star Trek had hits throughout the late 80s including Valentine and China in Your Hand. But while T’Pau split in the early 1990s, lead singer Carol Decker still performs under the band’s name in her solo shows. Now, 62-years-old, the frontwoman is also known for her 1995 solo single One Heart, which supported the Halifax World Cup Rugby League.

Last year, Decker spoke out on the pressure for rising stars like Love Island contestants to “look like Barbie.”

The 62-year-old admitted there’s much more criticism now than when she launched her career.

According to Irish News, she said: “I think even young men now, you see how guys are just buffed and ripped if they’re trying to be famous and the girls just seem so…

“I watched the last episode of Love Island… and they’re just so over made-up, they’ve got too much make-up on, too many hair extensions.

“The pressure on them to all look like Barbie is ridiculous.”

“It’s handy if you’re nice looking, it doesn’t hurt.”

Decker added: “In my youth, I wasn’t too hard on the eye myself, and I made the most of it but now, I just think the pressure is incredible, it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The singer, who lives with her husband Richard Coates in Henley-On-Thames has two children, Scarlett, 22 and Dylan, 17.

Back in 2017, Decker revealed the five things that she cannot live without.

They were hairspray, big sunglasses, wine, facial oil and family videos.

On growing older, she admitted to having a “meltdown” when she turned 60.

Decker said: “I turned 60 recently and I did have a little bit of a meltdown about growing older.

“My lovely husband Richard, who is relentlessly thoughtful, bought me some Malin + Goetz Recovery Treatment Oil, which is an amazing product.

“I’ve always been a bit cynical about face cream but this stuff works wonders.

“It comes in a tiny bottle and every morning I add a few drops to my moisturiser or foundation and my skin ends up looking incredibly dewy and fresh.

“I call it my magic oil and although it’s not cheap it’s an indulgence I don’t think I could give up.”
