Capri Tiberio Palace fizzes with retro glamour

This vibrant boutique hotel offers the kind of five star experience that the new generation of luxury traveller is seeking…

Where? In the very centre of Capri. Moments from the iconic Piazzetta and the boutiques of Via Camerelle, it could not be better positioned for a quintessentially glamorous break on the island.

Design details: Giampiero Panepinto is behind this bold and bright vision. La Dolce Vita is evoked in his colourful scheme that merges vintage style with contemporary Italian design.

No two rooms or suites are the same making for a boutique property that oozes character.

Pop art blends with black and white photography, patterns clash and the scent of the signature Carthusia Fiori Di Capri lingers.

Dusty blue and turquoise, saffron yellow, neutral and coral shades all blend together for a Mediterranean feel.

From the moment you check in at the Jacky Bar, which evokes the Cotton Club and 1960s Cuba, you know this is going to be a fun ride. Who wouldn’t want to be greeted by a white grand piano against a backdrop of Borsalino panama hats?

Which room? The one-bedroom suites are homely but luxurious. As well as a separate bedroom and living area, there is a walk-in closet, rain shower and bathtub with wash basins made by Santafiora stone from Tuscany.

Bookshelves are stacked with coffee table style reads, fabrics are sumptuous and there are cute accessories which have been personally chosen for the space.

For an extra treat, there is a terrace overlooking the sea with sun loungers, a dining table and a cosy seat for al fresco aperitivo.

On the menu: Food is taken very seriously at the panoramic Terrazza Tiberio restaurant, under the expert helm of executive chef Nello Siano. Next to the pool area, it is a laid-back setting with a superb menu.

Caprese ravioli, salt-crusted seabass and lobster tartare are some of the highlights. Sip on a Capri Spritz as you indulge on thoughtfully prepared and presented dishes.

What about wellness? The spa includes a waterzone with four therapeutic showers, a sauna, a steam room and relaxation area. There is a treatment list with massages, face and body therapies.

Plus, the in and out heated pool has art installations by Giampiero Panepinto and views over Capri.

Anything else I should know? The concierge team is very helpful and can arrange bookings at some of Capri’s most coveted restaurants. Let them know what you are looking for on arrival and they will assist in a friendly, informative way.

How do I get there? A 45-minute ferry from Naples will take you to Capri where you will be greeted by a representative from the hotel who will take your luggage at the port. Then hop on the funicular to the Piazzetta and the hotel is a five-minute walk away.
