Callum Wilson insists he has no plans to leave Bournemouth despite persistent transfer links to Chelsea.

The Blues were reportedly keen to sign Wilson in January, but a move for the Bournemouth striker never materialised as Chelsea signed Gonzalo Higuain instead.

Wilson scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season in the 5-0 win over Brighton and spoke about his future before the game.

‘I signed a long-term contract, I’m happy down there – I’m playing football,’ he said.

‘I’m happiest when I’m on the pitch. I never want to go and sort of be somewhere that I’m not going to play.

‘I never want to see myself not playing at Bournemouth even, being on the bench and things like that.

‘Any player has aspirations to play for their country, like I’ve managed to do thankfully, and play in the Champions League – different big occasions and big stages.

‘I’ve been linked [with big clubs] from a young age when I’m doing well, so I tend not to buy into it really.

‘It can sway you off what you need to do and take away your focus.’

Wilson’s form this season earned him an international call-up to the England squad for the first time in his career.

The 27-year-old is under contract at Bournemouth until 2022 and has scored or assisted 21 goals this season.

The 5-0 rout of Brighton lifted Bournemouth to 12th in the Premier League table with 41 points.
