Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to sign a new Chelsea contract after meeting with new manager Frank Lampard and being guaranteed an important role in the first team this season.

The 18-year-old has been a transfer target for Bayern Munich over the last year, with the Bundesliga side making a number of bids of up to £35m for him in January.

Bayern were expected to come back in with a fresh offer for the teenager this summer, but putting pen to paper on a new Chelsea deal should put an end to their interest.

Hudson-Odoi was hesitant about staying at Stamford Bridge as he had not made a Premier League start until April of last season under former manager Maurizio Sarri.

However, the arrival of Lampard in the dugout has been enough to convince him that he will have a regular place in the starting XI when he recovers from his current Achilles tendon injury.

Goal reports that the contract is likely to run for five years and be worth around £100,000-a-week.

The England international is currently out with the Achilles problem he picked up on 22 April in a Premier League match against Burnley.

The initial prognosis was that he was likely to be out for at least six months, but his recovery has been impressive and he now looks set to return to full training by the start of August.

While Hudson-Odoi will still miss the start of the Premier League season, he may be available by the end of August, which is a huge boost for Lampard who is operating under a transfer ban in his first Premier League management job.

It has been a positive week for Chelsea in terms of securing the futures of their young stars after Ruben Loftus-Cheek also agreed a new deal with the club.

Also an England international and also out with an Achilles tendon problem, Loftus-Cheek will sign for another five years and be earning around £150,000-a-week.
