Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that his recovery from a ruptured Achilles has gone well and he should be available for selection again after the international break.

The 18-year-old suffered a season-ending injury against Burnley in April and has been forced to sit out the start of the current campaign under new manager Frank Lampard.

Hudson-Odoi has been tipped for a key role at Chelsea following the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid with Lampard admitting he is looking forward to unleashing him.

The England international’s update has come at an opportune time after Chelsea threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hudson-Odoi said: ‘Recovery has gone really well, I feel good so hopefully, I’ll be back after the international break.

‘It was something that I was scared would take longer but recovery has gone really well and quick for myself and I’m happy everything has gone to plan.’

Hudson-Odoi made his first-team breakthrough under Maurizio Sarri last season, featuring 24 times and scoring five goals in all competitions under the Italian.

Due to his injury, Hudson-Odoi is yet to play for Lampard but he praised his boss for giving Chelsea’s young players such as Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham first-team opportunities.

He added: ‘He’s a top manager, I’ve said it since the start. He’s there’ he’s giving youth a chance, he’s said if we work hard and believe in ourselves we’ll get the chance so that’s what we’re trying to do.

‘Everyone is more positive now in the camp, all the young players have been boosted by him coming, he’s says a lot of things that will make the young boys want to work hard, make them push themselves to get to the first-team.’
