Frank Lampard says Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are pushing to start in Chelsea’s clash with Brighton on Saturday.

Both players returned from injury and found the net in Chelsea’s 7-1 win over Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

James is set to challenge Cesar Azpilicueta for a place at right-back, while Hudson-Odoi will be pushing to start on either side of Lampard’s three-man attack.

Chelsea host Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Lampard insists the duo are in contention to feature.

‘Yeah they are in the squad, they performed well the other day,’ said Lampard.

‘They still have improvement they are young players but they’ve shown the quality they have.

‘Reece because he’s been away it’s good for the home fans to see him, we know what Callum can do.

‘Now they are back fit they are pushing.’
