Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: Early patch news for PS4 and Xbox One COD download

It’s been a busy month so far for new Call of Duty Modern Warfare updates, and it appears more are on the way.

The highlight for COD gamers so far this December will be the launch of the new Season 1 content on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Not only did it bring new maps and modes to the game, but it was also released at the same time for everyone.

Season 1 of Modern Warfare is scheduled to run until the end of January 2020, so we probably won’t be getting any giant patches until then.

But as confirmed by Activision earlier this month, we haven’t been given access to the all the new Season 1 content yet.

More is being saved for the coming weeks, and that means we could still see some sizable updates in December.

For now, we know only a little about the new bug fixes coming in the next updates, but more news covering the next content patch has been revealed.

And it confirms that some kind of Call of Duty Modern Warfare update will be released later today, Tuesday, December 10.

It’s unclear if this will mean a new COD download or if it will be purely content-related, and therefore not require a big patch.

One change confirmed as being in developed for December is making Challenge descriptions clearer.

This was revealed online by COD community managers and should make it easier to track the requirements of certain challenges in-game.

It was also revealed that other bugs connected to weapon cosmetics are also being looked into and should be ready for the next update.

Activision has also teased what new modes will be coming to public servers today, December 10.

Infected Mode can be found in the private lobby but it’s also confirmed as part of Season 1.

“It’s hunt or be hunted in this party game mode. Survive against infected players as they knife their way to convert all remaining humans into their ranks,” the official mode description explains.

“Work together with your teammates to survive… But get ready for them to become your worst enemies if they fall into infected hands.”

Gunfight O.S.P is another mode that is being worked on by developers Infinity Ward and will be landing alongside Infected.

“O.S.P. (On-Site Procurement) has a lot of the same mechanics and gameplay as traditional Gunfight with one distinct difference: you begin each match with no weapons or equipment.

“Find weapons and equipment throughout the map and build your own loadout in each round to vanquish the enemy duo.”

It should be noted that these new modes are being added to the game for only a limited time.

It appears Activision will be rotating content during Season 1, starting with these game modes.

As revealed by the development team this week, both modes will be available to play from December 10 until December 18.

Which could be mean another content update is being worked on for release next week.

Another COD related event happening today includes a new streaming session involving 20 hand-picked Twitch streamers facing off in a skill-based showcase with $250,000 in prize money.

This will be followed by the first-ever CODE Bowl, with Activision confirming:

“In further support of its #HireHonor campaign and celebrating its 10th year of putting veterans back to work in meaningful jobs, the first-ever CODE Bowl is coming.

“The action begins at 10AM PST on Friday, December 13 on the Call of Duty Twitch channel, and features eight teams, each captained by a popular streamer along with members of the U.S. Army esports team.

“Each team includes a featured streamer and two active duty service members, and each streamer will raise donations on their channels on behalf of the Call of Duty Endowment.”
