Call of Duty Modern Warfare update 1.08: New patch notes confirmed for COD download

Call of Duty Modern Warfare update 1.08 is going live this morning following a short announcement from Activision.

The game’s community manager confirmed the news a few hours before the new patch was scheduled to go live.

This included information that the next COD update would be released at around 8am, GMT, and would come complete with patch notes.

Infinity Ward’s Ashton Williams told fans online: “Our update will begin rolling out around midnight PST tonight.

“Patch notes are up ahead of the update going out. Please continue to provide feedback and suggestions!”

This new patch should be rolling out to all platforms today, including PS4, Xbox One and PC players.

As revealed before the Modern Warfare update went live, a complete set of patch notes have been shared.

These include all the major changes made with the launch of Modern Warfare 1.08, including nerfs to the existing arsenal.

Unlike update 1.07 which went live earlier this week, today’s patch is focused on fixing crash problems and balancing gameplay.

And even though fans will be happy to have new maps and modes to try out, these changes could prove just as popular.

Infinity Ward reports that they have made changes to how footsteps work in some instances, while also working on the backend to remove crash issues.

A range of weapon changes has been confirmed as well, although these are quite minor in scope. Infinity Ward confirms that they have also looked into sync problems with challenges, although not all issues may have been removed with this latest launch.

“General fix for the UI and Challenge state getting out of sync. We’ll continue to monitor and make additional fixes as needed in future updates,” a message from Infinity Ward explains.

Full patch notes can be found below for Call of Duty Modern Warfare update 1.08. It follows news that Modern Warfare was one of the most downloaded games on the PlayStation Store in October.

While not unexpected, it will be reassuring for Activision to see that the changes they have made since last year have not put players off.

There was plenty of buzz surrounding the return of a story mode centered around the Modern Warfare subfranchise.

Modern Warfare managed to knock FIFA 20 into second place, with GTA 5 managing to beat Ghost Recon Breakpoint into third place.

“Call of Duty’s return to present day warfare saw Infinity Ward’s shooter claim the top spot in last month’s PlayStation Store download charts,” Sony confirms in a new message.

“But it wasn’t the only new title to debut in the top 20. Ubisoft’s own military shooter Ghost Recon Breakpoint snatched fourth, Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds placed seventh while undead romp MediEvil’s PS4 remaster grabbed ninth place.”
