The first PlayStation 4 beta for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is over, but this weekend Xbox and PC can join the battle in a cross-play open beta.

Activision’s upcoming title is one of the most anticipated of this year, even more so with the few betas that are launching before the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. The latest beta that dropped was exclusively for PlayStation 4 players, which has now officially ended to make way for another that starts on the 19 September for those with early access on Xbox One and PC.

For PlayStation 4 players even though this is an early access beta for Xbox and PC, you can still join in regardless if you have pre-ordered the game or not.

As usual for betas, they can be filled with a variety of issues and some game-breaking bugs, but this is what they’re primarily for; to get feedback from the community who will happily voice any problems. This whole weekend beta is for Activision to test out the cross-play capabilities as this is the first time a Call Of Duty game has attempted to join all consoles and PC to play together online.

If you haven’t heard, they are including an extra game mode for this upcoming weekend, which is a 32v32 mode called Ground War.

It’ll no doubt worry some fans that a mouse and keyboard in the hands of skilled players might have an unfair advantage against those using a controller.

But Activision has thought about this, and that is why players are split up depending on what they are using at the start of the game, which means all users playing with a controller will only play against other controller wielders even if playing on PC.

For more information about the upcoming beta weekend, we’ve got you covered, but the beta starts again on 19 September for players who have early access.
