Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer is free this weekend

Well, that’s this weekend sorted (Pic: Activision)

Call Of Duty: Warzone players can try out Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode for free throughout the coming weekend.

We’re kind of drowning in Call Of Duty content at the moment. Warzone, the series’ take on the battle royale genre, dropped only last month and quickly rose in popularity, and the long-rumoured remaster of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was finally announced/released, albeit without the multiplayer.

Now, with everyone stuck indoors thanks to the coronavirus, Activision are taking further advantage by making Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer free throughout the weekend.

This free weekend will begin at 6pm BST today, 3 April, and run until Monday, 6 April.

You need to have downloaded Warzone before you can take part, but Warzone is free-to-play anyway so participating shouldn’t be a problem as long as you have the storage space for it.

According to an official blog post, it will only offer two of the game’s maps – Atlas Superstore and Shoot House – but there will be a varied mixture of match options, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint.

Obviously, Activision are hoping you’ll be impressed enough to want to buy the game afterwards but it’s just the latest free trial or giveaway for people in lockdown, that has so far included everything from Football Manager 2020 to Rayman Legends.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
