Call of Duty Modern Warfare servers are down tonight, with fans unable to connect to core online services.
That’s the latest from COD gamers who are having troubles across all platforms, including PlayStation, Microsoft and Battle.Net.
The official Call of Duty Modern Warfare server status page currently lists all platforms as offline, adding: “We’re currently experiencing connectivity issues. This incident is under investigation.”
Even with this extra information shared by Activision, it’s still unclear what is causing tonight’s Modern Warfare server troubles.
And it’s also hard to gauge how long today’s server troubles might last, with fans hopeful of a short outage.
The good news is that reports remain quite low on down detector sites, which are used to track major outages.
This means that for now, tonight’s COD server outage is not a global issue.
One user writes that they are stuck on the main page, waiting for the game to update, while others are seeing problems with disconnecting from servers.
“I am stuck at the main screen apparently I got a maintenance for 1 minute that never goes down been 20 minutes now,” they posted online.
Another adds: “I just constantly get server disconnected and have to return to the main menu. I was able to fix yesterday with changing my DNS and IP, but today it’s not working.”
It was recently confirmed that a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is being released this week by developers Infinity Ward.
This will bring new multiplayer maps to the game and is also expected to include a number of bugfixes.
While Modern Warfare has proven popular with fans, a number of technical issues continue to affect the game.
This is the first Call of Duty game to be released that includes cross-platform support, meaning that Battle.Net, PS4, and Xbox One need to be kept more inline than in previous years.
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now one of the leading games of 2019, having sold more than $600 million of content worldwide in its first three days of release.
The title has sold more units in its first three days than any other Call of Duty game sold in its first three days in this console generation, and is the top-selling new premium game release of 2019.
Modern Warfare also established a new record as the #1 top-selling digital opening in Activision history and has also set new records on the PlayStation Network for the highest digital pre-orders and highest three-day digital sales ever on PlayStation 4.
“Through the first three days, Modern Warfare has more total players and total hours played than any Call of Duty opening release in the last six years. More importantly, our players are having a great time playing,” said Rob Kostich, president, Activision.
“Congratulations to Infinity Ward and all our teams involved on an incredible game and its spectacular launch. We also want to thank the community for your incredible support. The launch of Modern Warfare is only the start. There’s much more to come.”
