Caitlyn Jenner’s mother will not be following the star’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! experience as she thinks watching the show is “torture.”
The ex-athlete’s 93-year-old mum Esther Jenner confirmed that she will not be tuning in for the ITV series as Caitlyn tries to survive the jungle with her fellow celebrity camp mates.
Speaking from her home in Idaho, Esther told the Mail Online: “We have a Survivor [show] here in the United States, I never watched it, I’ve skimmed over it, or seen previews and I decided that I don’t really care for that.
“That’s not entertainment to me, to see somebody frightened. I think she could spend a lot more pleasant times on the golf course!
“I’ve tried not to think of Caitlyn being over there [in Australia]. It’s three weeks… a long time to go without hearing from her.
“When she’s in the States she calls me almost every day, so I’ve got to live without hearing her.”
The pensioner said she’s heard of how mentally challenging the show can be, adding: “It’s like a competition, I guess, and there are not very many people that get through it. I don’t want to be thinking about that at one o’clock in the morning, I cannot sleep.”
She added: “We can’t see it here in the United States. I don’t need to torture myself, if it’s frightening, I don’t want to know.”
Caitlyn arrived in the jungle with former footballer and broadcaster Ian Wright and Kate Garraway in scenes broadcast during Sunday night’s launch episode.
A total of nearly 11 million people tuned in to Sunday’s episode, losing almost one million viewers compared to last year’s launch.

The first episode, which was broadcast over one hour and 45 minutes, peaked at 10.9 million viewers, according to ITV.
Last year’s launch show peaked at 11.9 million and drew an average of 11 million viewers in the overnight ratings as Holly Willoughby joined Donnelly for hosting duties in Australia.
The This Morning host, who filled in while McPartlin stepped back from his TV commitments following a drink-driving arrest, proved to be a lucky charm for I’m A Celebrity, with the show enjoying its most-watched launch since 2013.
The ITV reality show’s biggest-ever overnight opener was in 2013, when 12 million people tuned in.
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight on ITV at 9pm.
