Cadet’s posthumous single Support Me released with short film and fans are emotional

Cadet fans have been left emotional after the rapper’s posthumous single Support Me was released along with a short film.

The track was recorded last year, before Cadet sadly passed away in a car accident, with 23-year-old Jordan Birch being jailed.

The 12-minute short film that accompanies the new song, directed by Labi Abebunmi, shows the need for support in a relationship, especially as it goes through changes.

Fans have been taking the opportunity to pay tribute to the star, with one commenting: ‘Cadet your music speaks to us and relates to day to day things that we all go through. R.I.P Cadet you will always be remembered through your music.’

‘RIP still can’t believe your gone, still listening to your music your a true inspiration [sic],’ another wrote.

‘Breaks my heart every time i hear cadets voice,’ one more said.

Support Me is the lead single on the rapper’s upcoming album The Rated Legend, which will be released next month.

The release date was announced at the beginning of the month, with a post on the star’s official Twitter page reading: ‘Cadet’s brand new album “The Rated Legend” will be out April 10th. All the support on this album would mean the world to Cadet. Thank you.’

The album is set to feature fellow artists including Krept, Chip, and Tion Wayne.

In February 2019, Cadet, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was killed on his way to a student union performance at Keele University.

A statement shared on his Instagram read: ‘We the family of Blaine Cameron Johnson known as Cadet (Underrated Legend) would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away as a passenger in a taxi, en route to a performance.

‘Right now we the family appreciate your patience and will share with you any information as and when we can. Thanks for your support in advance.

‘Love The Johnson Family #cadetcadet #imbuff #underratedlegend #ripcadet.’
