Continuing the trend of chocolate-based news in the run-up to Easter, the confectionery giant will introduce the new Dinkie Decker and Crunchie Bits into boxes from April this year.
First launched in 1999 in a bid to cater to the wide-ranging tastes of the masses, Heroes have since become synonymous with family gatherings and celebrations alike.
A smaller version of the much-loved Double Decker bar, the Dinkie Decker is made up of crispy cereal, soft nougat and chocolate.
The selection will also see the introduction of Crunchie Bits – the miniature sibling of the much-loved Crunchie that was first introduced to the world back in 1929 by J. S. Fry & Sons.
The new additions to the Heroes family will join the current line-up of Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel, Twirl, Wispa, Eclair, Fudge and Creme Egg Twisted.
A Cadbury spokesperson said: “No flavours will be removed from the existing Cadbury Heroes offering, providing a more even spread across all of the variants, making this a perfect selection for sharing with friends and family.”
The announcement has seen Crunchie fans across the nation rejoice at the prospect of the bar’s long awaited return after it was given the boot alongside Dreams over a decade ago. Bourneville, the dark chocolate bar that went on to replace the honeycomb offering, was phased out a few years later.
A standard 290g carton of Heroes currently has an RRP of £4.50 – although Cadbury says retailers are free to set their own prices.
Will the move finally see the chocolate-marker crowned the nation’s favourite ahead of long-standing rival Galaxy? Only time will tell.
