Cabin crew secrets: Flight attendant reveals what passengers should never consume on plane

Cabin crew on flights are experts at travelling on planes and know well the dos and don’ts of life onboard. What passengers might never question on a plane could well be a huge faux pas. One flight attendant has revealed an unpleasant truth about aircraft – and what fliers should never do.

Lin wrote: “The water on the plane is absolutely disgusting, the tanker which the water comes from is literally never cleaned.”

Consequently, there are certain beverages which travellers should steer clear of.

Lin advises eschewing the coffee and tea on planes with a firm hand.

“Don’t ever drink coffee or tea on a plane,” the cabin crew member recommended.

Instead, it is much better to drink bottled water if you want to be sure of a clean beverage.

“If you insist on drinking water, ask for bottled water, we would be happy to help you,” said Lin.

“Skip the coffee on the plane, get it when you arrive, trust me.”

However, the water onboard planes isn’t the only “disgusting thing,” according to Lin.

The flight attendant pointed out that plane toilets are foul too.

She advised against ever going into onboard bathroom without shoes and socks.

“The lavatories are absolutely disgusting, there have been a lot of disgusting incidents I have seen in that box space,” she wrote.

“Whenever I see a person not wearing shoes going into a lavatory, I wonder if that person would do the same if they had seen what I have seen before.

“I definitely wait until I get off the plane to use the bathroom in the airport if I don’t absolutely have to go.”

Another piece of advice Lin shared was that passengers should be aware that turbulence is “definitely more dangerous than you think it is.”

She said: “When you see us walking down the aisle when we tell you to fasten your seatbelts, you think we’re overreacting. We’re not. Do what we tell you to do.

“There is a reason we tell you to do something, please don’t make our job hard and just do it.”
