Byleth DLC is live now in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and he’s just as boring as he looks

Dozens of Byleth fans are going to be excited about this news (pic: Nintendo)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s least anticipated DLC addition is available now, as is the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 and Cuphead costume.

After four fan favourite additions the first Fighters Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has ended with a whimper rather than a bang, as Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ Byleth is added to the game.

Byleth is the main player character, who can be either male or female, except they’re not really a character at all and never speak or have any dialogue.

In Smash Bros. they’re able to wield four Hero’s Relic weapons: a bow, sword, axe, and lance. From the quick go we’ve just had though none of them are particularly interesting, except for the sword that can extend and latch onto platforms.

Even the final smash is a letdown and is basically just a less interesting version of Simon Belmont’s, but with an ugly 2D image of Sothis floating around in the background.

Still, everyone knew it was coming and now we can all get down to speculating about who’ll be in the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which is now available to pre-order on the eShop for £26.99.

It will include six characters, instead of the original’s five, but so far we don’t know any of them or anything other than they’ll all be out by the end of next year.

If you pre-order now you will get a free Ancient Soldier Mii Fighter outfit from Zelda: Breath Of The Wild to use right away though.

You can also pick up the new range of other Mii Fighter outfits separately, which includes Cuphead and Altaïr from Assassin’s Creed. These are not covered by either Fighters Pass and cost 70p each.

Byleth is available separately for £5.39, which gets you the fighter, the new arena, and a bunch of new Fire Emblem: Three Houses music and a dedicated spirit board.

But if you don’t want to pay for anything there is the free v7.0.0 update that introduces various balances and bug fixes that you can check up on here.
