Butlin’s unveils world’s first Helter Skelter water slide at its new £40m swimming pool in Bognor Regis resort

BUTLIN’S has unveiled the Helter Skelter water slide that will be at the heart of its new £40 million swimming pool, Splash, in Bognor Regis.

The new attraction, which takes its cues from the holiday park’s heritage, will be opening to the public for the first time on April 6.

The retro water slide is the first of its kind in the world.

Standing at 7.4m tall (almost 25ft), it’s almost the height of two double decker busses stacked on top of each other.

Like the traditional fairground attraction, there’s a bright red flume that wraps around the central tower.

But instead of sitting on a mat to come down, there will be a constant flow of water to propel you from start to finish.

It will be joining a number of other water rides at the new Butlin’s swimming pool, including Seaside Garden rapids and Stick of Rock slides.

And for younger children, there’s also a quieter spot where they can test out the water.

Butlin’s new pool will be a huge new attraction for the holiday resort.

It can accommodate 950 guests at the same time and is a massive 6,3000sqm.

There will be huge changing rooms that can fit an entire family and more spacious lockers as well as underfloor heating.
