She made a gallant effort of breaking into the male-dominated world of late night television, and is now putting herself out there in a brand new way.
Busy Philipps looked fresh-faced and pretty on Wednesday morning, when she guested on Good Morning America without the usual staple of generous foundation for an on-camera appearance to talk about her latest team-up with Olay.
The 40-year-old was promoting the cosmetics brand’s ‘skin promise,’ which is their new stance on only using publicity photos that do not include airbrushing or retouching.

The Busy Tonight star was in a lovely floral blue shirt dress that featured poofed, sheer sleeves for the appearance, paired with chic putty-colored suede stiletto thigh-high boots.
Busy wore her blond hair in a half ponytail.
But most significant was the White Chicks actress’s face, which looked natural and healthy in the studio.
Philipps, whose star-making show Freaks & Geeks is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, shared what she would tell her younger self if given the opportunity.

‘I would encourage her to feel more confident, in her own skin,’ the actress and social media influencer said, tying in how Olay’s pledge to use real photos with nothing ‘airbrushed’ or ‘facetuned’ will show the young women and girls of today that they don’t have to strive for perfection.
Busy’s appearance at the Good Morning America studios was just next to Times Square in New York City, where screens were showing Olay’s new ads that feature a giant-faced Busy along with other models Denise Bidot and Lilly Singh.
She assured the studio audience that she was, in fact, ‘just wearing Olay’ and no foundation. On her Instagram Story, however, she also disclosed she had applied eyebrow gel and mascara, and it was clear she was sporting some lip gloss as well.

The GMA appearance comes after Philipps appeared, along with Singh, in a buzzy Super Bowl spot for Olay along with the likes of Taraji P. Henson and retired NASA astronaut Nicole Stott.
Outside the studio, Busy was snapped on her way in, adding a pastel pink beret and lovely deeper pink coat to her colorful outfit in the chilly New York morning weather.
She also wore a perfectly complementary pastel mint green scarf tied around her neck, which matched her turquoise manicure.
Busy posted several snippets to her Instagram Story both leading up to her GMA appearance, as well as a heartfelt post to her feed after leaving the studio.

Next to a gallery of photos showing her standing proudly in Times Square in front of the Olay billboards that featured her, she wrote:

And then, she continued ‘on a personal note’, reflecting on her first time in the Big Apple.
‘I just remembered pulling a suitcase through times square (right across the street from where I’m standing in this picture!) at 24, post Dawsons Creek, having flown myself to New York for some auditions and feeling like my career was already over; I was so unsure where I was going or what I was going to do next. A police officer asked me if I needed help (it wasn’t hot cop) and I almost started to cry, I must have looked so lost. Anyway. My point is, you never know; you just never know. ❤️’
Busy is mom to two daughters — Birdie Leigh, 11, and Cricket Pearl, six — with screenwriter husband Marc Silverstein.
She was the host on E!’s Busy Tonight in 2018 and 2019, before it was canceled after just one season in spite of the fact that Philipps was one of the only female late night hosts on the scene.
