BTS’s Suga drops eagerly awaited Agust D mixtape and surprise MV

It looks like we may need to rename ‘pulling a Beyonce’ to ‘pulling a Suga’ when it comes to surprise album drops.

The BTS rapper has gone and blessed us with his second mixtape as alter ego Agust D, and it’s safe to say the fans are pretty taken aback.

Big Hit signalled that something was on its way as they posted mysterious countdown teasers, but it was unclear with BTS member was releasing new content.

Last night, the ARMY was convinced it was Suga that maybe was releasing a new song, getting #AGUSTD2ISCOMING trending – but a fresh mixtape and an MV? Now you’re just spoiling us.

The dramatic video for 대취타 – or Daechwita – sees Suga rapping against the background of traditional temples and markets, alternating between black and blonde hairdos.

And of course, there’s also powerful choreography to boot.

Agust D plays two roles in the MV – a sword dancer in the traditional Korean hanbok and a captive, with the latter being tied up and blindfolded in intense scenes.

Big Hit shared the Dropbox link for the mixtape, but it seems the ARMY was too eager, as the link crashed moments after it was tweeted.

We’re not surprised.

The mixtape is also available on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud and TikTok.

The 10 track mixtape features a collaboration with RM called Strange, that ‘points at the oddity of society’, 28 (feat. NiiHWA), a more hip-hop/R&B vibe, and Max collab Burn It which is guitar led.

Interlude: Set Me Free takes its cues from Brit rock, while Dear My Friend features Kim Jong Wan of NELL; while trap song People, the ‘dreamlike’ Honsool, Moonlight, which is Agust D’s interpretation of change, What Do You Think – which discusses his accomplishments so far – and the military inspired Daechwita make up the tracklist.

Suga previously released his first mixtape called Agust D back in 2016, so it’s been a long wait for the second installment.

The star is having a pretty busy lockdown, having also featured recently on IU’s new single eight.

Plus, BTS – Suga, RM, Jimin, J-Hope, V, Jin and Jungkook – are using the spare time to work on their next album.

The ON singers were set to embark on their European tour this summer, but unfortunately had to postpone the dates due to the coronavirus pandemic.
